Please note that the material herein is intended to be informational and supportive only. It cannot substitute for the advice of personal medical providers and treatment professionals, including but not limited to primary care doctors, psychiatrists and psychologists, etc. If you are involved in a treatment program that differs from any viewpoints expressed here, follow your program! You paid for that. If you find discrepancies, you can integrate the two later, particularly when you're feeling more stable.

IMPORTANT: If you are in need of detox, having a medical emergency, experiencing a mental health crisis or feeling suicidal, you need to get immediate local help. Here are some emergency resources:

If you are detoxing on your own, please be aware that stopping alcohol and benzodiazapenes is dangerous and can even be fatal. Get medical advice, if at all possible. Many doctors will allow you to detox at home, but please follow their directions exactly, and don't take those benzos as an ongoing substitute. They're to keep you from having seizures. Have a backup plan in place -- someone to check on you, a plan to call an ambulance. If you take anti-anxiety medications that are benzodiazapenes, you MUST taper down. If you have been drinking heavily or steadily for long periods of time, you may experience mild to severe withdrawal. If you are shaking, feel feverish, are experiencing hallucinations or are questioning reality, please get to to an emergency room.

If you choose to take advantage of coaching or other programs, I make no warranty as to outcome, although I hope you will find yourself measurably happier and more comfortable in your life. Payments must be made in advance, and there will be no refunds as long as the session is conducted, as specified. A meeting that needs to be rescheduled is fine; please do so 24 hours in advance of that meeting. If you must cancel with less than 24 hours notice, I reserve the right to charge a $10 fee for the missed appointment.
